My father Sam Arthur opened Arthur's Jewelry in Reidsville November of 1979. He had been in the jewelry business in Reidsville since 1957. He worked for Jewel Box, a regional chain of jewelry stores in the southeast, popular with the people of Reidsville. He worked his way from being a young, eager salesman to assistant manager to manager and then to being the supervisor of seven stores. After 32 years, he decided to venture out on his own. Sam opened a store next to K Mart in the Southwood Village Shopping Center on Way Street in Reidsville. He was well-established in the jewelry industry and both well known and respected. He was always quick with a joke and never forgot any of his customers. He shared in the precious memories of three generations of customers and friends. New Hire In the fall of 1988, he hired a computer systems analyst with no jewelry experience. Yes, it was me. He trained me for eleven wonderful years, trying to pass along his experience to me until he passed away in November 1999, leaving the business to my brother, sister, and I. We have missed him greatly. Where We Are Today Reidsville is my home and where I plan to stay. I am a former board member of the Reidsville Chamber of Commerce. I am a member and past president of the Reidsville Lions Club. I have been a member for over 47 years and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church on Main Street. I really enjoy this business and the challenges it brings. I have enjoyed learning about gold, diamonds, gemstones, watches, and all of the other things that we provide for our customers. But the part I enjoy the most are the friends that we serve as customers of Arthur's Jewelry. I have enjoyed carrying on the tradition of my father, sharing the special moments in our customers lives.
Our Employees Devette Watlington, Nancy Lepak & Kelly Paschal look forward to helping you with your jewelry needs. We have to thank our other "employees" who work countless hours helping to keep me from losing my hair (oops!) Tammy Horn and my wife of twenty-nine years, Sandi. If you are looking for a diamond in Reidsville, come see us!
